Golden Gem's Leap of Faith {Aug. 26th 2000 to Dec 27th 2000}

Leap {on right} with Legend

In everyones life a little rain must fall. It doesn't make it any easier knowing this when you lose one so young.

After I was sure I could not do agility with Legend, I longed for a puppy.

A friend had a litter and so I went out to have a look. I instantly liked this little black and white pup with a wide streak of white on his forehead, so I took him home.

I was on the road alot as a courier and was lucky enough to be able to take Leap and Legend along. This helped Leap become well socialized at a young age.

He was quite the character. He could sit and amuse himself for hours, yet loved to do anything with me.

He was sneaky, he loved Soda and would frequently take off the lid and drink my soda when I ran in to make a delivery.

Sometimes he would spill the soda on my seat and boy what a pleasure that was to sit in the rest of the day.

He hated it when I did something with Legend and didn't include him. He was Legend's best buddy despite Legend's protests to leave him alone.

Hi first Christmas soon was approaching and Christmas eve I took some pictures of him and Legend by the Christmas tree.

I had some Christmas Eve plans, but noticed when I was leaving he wasn't feeling very well and had diarrhea. I thought oh well he must have a bug, or he ate something that didn't agree with him.

On my return, I noticed he still didn't feel well. I gave him some immodium and went to bed.

In the morning his gums were white and he was still quite sick, I knew then this was something serious.

I rushed him to the emergency clinic and was told it was Parvo.

"How could that be" I said, "He has been innoculated". The tech then told me unfortunately sometimes they don't work.

I was shocked. How could that be! I thought I had done everything to protect my puppy. How could he have Parvo!!!!

Over the next two days we did everything possible to save my little dog, but he went on to the bridge two days after christmas and left a permanent hole in my heart.

A year later, I saw his breeder at a show and she kindly offered to replace him with an upcoming repeat breeding. This brought Ali into my life, a full sister to Leap, with alot of his qualities and I felt blessed.

However, I will never forget my little soda stealing puppy who was indeed my Leap of Faith

The Princess Baby

Sophie was tragically killed and went on to the bridge in June of 2005. She will be missed by everyone who knew her and who read her stories.

Sophie loved and missed by all who knew her

Especially her Mum Jenette

April of this year we lost a long time feline friend and companion to Mast Cell Cancer.

She was a loving and gentle cat. She would always answer you with a warm meow when you spoke to her. She could be quite the Diva. Bugs and hunting was not her thing, that was left to the more uncivilized cats. Baby of course could not be bothered with such things, she was a proper lady feline. Her thing was head rubs and ear scratches and sitting in a warm lap.

We will always miss her presence in our lives. Especially in the mornings when I expect to hear her good morning meow.
